John McCain Calls Rolling Stone Magazine “Stupid” For Imitating Him

Rolling Stone put out a magazine with the face of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev on the cover—the chief surviving suspect in the Boston Marathon bombing. The magazine obviously pictured the terrorist suspect because they believed that Tsarnaev is news. This has offended some people. I’m not sure why, because I don’t think showing a criminal’s picture endorses his criminal actions. It may be used to condemn them. Perhaps there is more going on here than I have yet read about in the news.

But now John McCain has claimed that the cover of Rolling Stone magazine is “stupid.” He is quoted as saying, “I thought it was horrifying.”

This made me think about all the things that no one on the staff of Rolling Stone, to my knowledge, has yet done.

  • No one on the staff of Rolling Stone has attempted to get permission to visit Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in his cell in order to pose with him for a photograph—as if appearing with Tsarnaev was an honor.
  • No one on the staff of Rolling Stone has publicly demanded that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev be given taxpayer funds in order to step up his terrorist activity.
  • No one on the staff of Rolling Stone has advocated that the US government Dzhokhar Tsarnaev with more firearms and other weapons at taxpayer expense.

No one at Rolling Stone has done any of that; but John McCain has. Remember back in May:

“To recap the past few days, talk of arming the Syrian rebels is heating up. In the Senate, the Committee on Foreign Affairs cast a 15-3 vote to authorize arming and training the rebels — Senators Tom Udall, Chris Murphy, and Rand Paul being the three courageous dissenters. Then, the Russians announced the shipment of advanced air defense missiles to the government of Bashar al-Assad. The European Union reacted in kind, voting to allow the arming of the opposing rebels. It was revealed this morning that McCain, during his personal mission to Syria to meet with rebels, appeared in photos with Mohammed Nour and Abu Ibrahim, two members of the Sunni “Northern Storm” brigade, which kidnapped 11 Lebanese Shia pilgrims, who were on their way back to Lebanon, from Iran. The group is still holding nine of the hostages.”

How can McCain sit there and condemn a new magazine for a photograph on their cover while he has posed for photographs with terrorists? How can he call the magazine “stupid,” for doing nothing wrong at the same time he is engaging in activity that arguably would be, according to NDAA, deserving on indefinite detention without trial?

I don’t think McCain realizes how many people are, thanks to the internet, aware that the Syrian “freedom fighters,” are really just another terrorist group. It is like we are living the story of “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” But in this version of the story, after the girl says out loud that the emperor is really just naked, the emperor keeps on walking because he doesn’t hear the girl or realize that everyone already knows that he has no clothes on. His cozy crowd of sycophants keeps babbling to drown out the murmur of the people.

That’s our government-media complex: asking McCain for his moral verdict on a magazine that has no power to drone bomb civilians or pay Al Qaeda to burn Christian churches down. The hypocrisy is out in the open and the American people are going to wake up and hold these dreamers responsible for the reality they are creating.
